This book was the recommended text for a motion graphics course I’m taking, however, it really doesn’t go into detail as to best practices for animating in flash. Instead it sort of skims across many, many subjects in a very shallow manner. Of course that’s what the book claims ‘to get you up and running quickly’. Probably should have chosen something else.

I took an online class for college that was only focused on Flash animation. I would not have made it through without this book.. I would not recommend this product.

There’s no exercises to walk you through the things that Flash can do. It’s just a bunch of reading, reading, reading. So I ended up ordering another walk through flash book that was really helpful.

However, I will say that when I tried to put my flash link on my webpage I kept getting a problem. The other book I purchased didn’t mention the problem. I referred to this book and it explained why the problem may be occurring and walked me through fixing it. So if you’re the type of person that doesn’t like walk through exercises that show you what the product has to offer then this is a good book for you.

I never used this book once and now I have CC so it feels like I wasted my money. I bought it for school and never used it. I purchased this book as part of a college Flash class. There is a lot of good info contained here, but it is boring. The book is in completely in black and white so finding various buttons and windows on my computer took a little extra time. This book feels more like a reference book than a how to and I would recommend something else if you are new to learning Flash.
